The CNIL is the Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés (National Commission for the Information Technologies and the liberties). This organism is in charge to ensure the safety of the collected datas and guarantee the liberty of those who the datas are collected.
Any file containing personal datas (notably the general public) have to be declared to the CNIL in order to obtain the authorization to use this datas for marketing purposes.
As e-prospects is operating in France, it beneficiates of all the necessary authorizations from the CNIL and ensures the compliance of these rules by its providers partners.
Its equivalent will be the Information Commissioner's Office in United Kingdom and the Office of the Information Commissioner in Canada. There is no structure like this in the United States where all the complains will be processed by the courts.
